Ep. #186: What Is Your Emotional Weight? with Jonathan Boulware

Sometimes the hardest part of changing your health is not knowing what to eat or how to exercise.

Sometimes it is the emotional weight you have been carrying for years.

In this episode of The Energy Fix, Tansy sits down with Jonathan Boulware for a compassionate and honest conversation about health transformation, obesity, self-forgiveness, and the mental and emotional obstacles that often get overlooked.

Jonathan shares his personal story, including his experience with obesity and the loss of his mother, and how those experiences shaped the way he now understands lifestyle change, motivation, and long-term wellness. Rather than focusing only on diet plans, workouts, or the number on the scale, he brings the conversation back to the emotional burden many people are carrying underneath it all.

Together, they explore why self-forgiveness has to come first, how to uncover the deeper “why” behind change, and why transformation is often less about motivation and more about identity. Jonathan also shares his 432 Playbook, a practical framework that helps people focus on micro goals, build support, and reduce overwhelm while creating healthier habits.

This conversation is a reminder that true transformation is not just about losing physical weight.

It is also about addressing the emotional weight that has been shaping the journey all along.

Why This Episode Matters

Because health struggles are rarely just about discipline.

They can show up as:

  • knowing what to do, but still not following through

  • feeling ashamed of where you are starting

  • carrying grief, fear, or emotional heaviness into every health decision

  • using fear as motivation until it stops working

  • feeling disconnected from the person you want to become

  • measuring progress only by the scale

And the frustrating part? Most conversations about health skip over the emotional and mental side of change. This episode matters because Jonathan reminds us that people are not failing because they do not care. They are often carrying emotional weight that has never been acknowledged, processed, or given space to heal.

This conversation brings compassion into the health journey without removing responsibility. It reminds us that lasting change is not about shaming yourself into better habits. It is about forgiving yourself, rebuilding trust with yourself, and becoming the person who can care for their health in a new way!
