Ep. #192: Immune Health & Discernment: What Is Worth Responding To?
Your immune system is not just here to fight everything.
It is here to discern what needs a response, what needs support, and what does not belong.
In this solo episode of The Energy Fix, Tansy explores the concept of discernment through the lens of immune health, gut health, emotional awareness, energetic boundaries, chakras, and crystals.
Rather than looking at the immune system only as a defense system, Tansy reframes it as a complex communication network that is constantly deciding what needs a response, what can be tolerated, and what needs repair. This becomes a powerful metaphor for how we move through life, relationships, stress, emotions, and energetic sensitivity.
Tansy also talks about the connection between the immune system and boundaries, especially through the gut, where the body is constantly deciding what to absorb, what to break down, and what to eliminate.
This episode explores the difference between sensitivity and absorption, why healthy boundaries are not about becoming impenetrable, and how emotional states can influence the way we interpret conversations, relationships, and situations.
Tansy also brings in inflammation, psychoneuroimmunology, chakra awareness, self-reflection, energy healing, and crystals as tools for understanding when to respond, when to pause, and when to return to self-trust.
This episode is a reminder that discernment is not about shutting down.
It is about learning how to stay open without abandoning yourself.

Why This Episode Matters
Because so many sensitive, intuitive, empathic, and overwhelmed people are told they need stronger boundaries. But stronger does not always mean harder. And boundaries are not supposed to cut you off from life. They are meant to help you interact with life in a healthier way.
This can show up as:
absorbing everyone else’s emotions
reacting before you understand what you are feeling
mistaking sensitivity for responsibility
assuming inflammation is always bad
pushing your body when it is asking for support
confusing temporary emotional states with deeper truth
feeling like being open means losing yourself
This episode matters because the immune system gives us a beautiful model for discernment.
It doesn’t fight everything or doesn’t ignore everything. It learns, communicates, responds, regulates, and repairs. We need that same kind of wisdom in our emotional and energetic lives!
Sometimes the most powerful question is:
What does this actually need from me?

Welcome back to the Energy Fix, a podcast dedicated to help you balance your energetic body by diving deep into the sweet world of all things health and spirituality. My name's Tansy, and I'm an intuitive Crystal Reiki energy healer, energetic nutrition and holistic health practitioner, and a crystal jewelry designer. It's time to talk all things energy. Let's dive in.
Welcome back to the Energy Fix Podcast. Thank you so much for being here again with us today as we have another incredible conversation. Now, today you're in for a little bit of a treat because today I am doing a solo episode. I don't get to do a whole lot of these. There will be more of these coming onto the show, but I was inspired to really sink into some solo chatting because.
One of the things that I have been talking about a lot, not only with myself, but with clients and colleagues and other people in my community is this concept around discernment. And so as we move into this month, I'm really just sinking into the concept of discernment and knowing what is worth fighting for, what is not worth fighting for.
Where are we getting a little bit too controlling and stubborn? Or where do we need to just really sink in and move forward? And today's conversation is going to be a little bit more around the concept of immune system. I want to sink in today about what your body can teach you about discernment and boundaries and knowing when to actually respond. And this is a big important.
Important conversation to have. Because I think when you get to this place of wanting to be healthy, wanting to be more spiritual, wanting to be more emotionally balanced, it becomes glaringly obvious that there are a million things that you could choose to focus on to.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (02:32.158)
Shift your perspective to. There are a million things that you can quote unquote fight or to move forward in. And there is also a million reasons of why maybe that may feel very overwhelming or make it hard to actually stick to. And so today we're going to be unpacking a few of these concepts and just allowing you to see and to understand where this flow is so important.
You know, if you've been following me for a while, you probably know or at least understand at some point that my work that I do is very much encompassing of many different skills and many different disciplines and modalities.
I bring in the physical health and the nutrition side, but I also bring in the energy healing side and connecting in spiritually and being more in that emotional and mental health balance, that gut-brain connection, but also everything from more of an energetic perspective. And so the thing that I've been thinking about a lot lately is how much of our language around health is really about trying to fight something, trying to fight and to fix.
And so I think that it's easy to fall into that trap because no matter where you go, social media, podcasts, self-help books, there is always this underlying language of just how do I fight through? How do I push? How do I do more or implement more tools to be able to feel better, to fight off whatever I'm trying to fight?
You may be trying to fight inflammation or infection or boost your immune system, strengthen your defenses or protect your energy, block out negativity, clear out toxins, clear out the bad stuff. Obviously, there is so much that you could potentially be working on. But also, there are absolutely times when your body does need to defend itself.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (04:44.078)
That it does need a little bit of that extra support. There are infections that we want our immune system to recognize. There are situations where we need to have stronger boundaries. There are environments and people where protecting our energy is completely appropriate and dare I say, absolutely necessary. But somewhere along the way,
I think that we've started to equate being healthier with becoming better at actually defending ourselves from everything. And that's not really how a healthy immune system actually works. What makes your immune system incredibly strong isn't simply that it knows how to attack something, it's that it has to recognize what it's dealing with.
Communicate that information, decide how much of a response is appropriate, remember certain things that it has encountered before in the past and what it has had to tolerate, and then eventually know when the response can stop, when the response is enough, when you've given it your all. You need to know all of these things and have this beautiful.
Dance, you might call it, this beautiful dance in this response system to actually understand what is appropriate lengths or amounts of response that you give to anything and everything. When you really think about that, there is a whole life lesson sitting inside of your immune system, really, right? Because if you think about it, how often do you actually do the opposite?
Something feels a little different in your body, and immediately you feel this need to try to figure out what's wrong and how you can fix it. Maybe you're out somewhere and someone's tone changes, and three hours later you're still thinking about it. I know that happens to me all the time. Or maybe you walk into a room and the energy just feels off. It feels a little weird.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (07:07.744)
So now you're wondering if you need to protect yourself from something that's going on in there. What is feeling off? What is feeling weird? Right? Like there's so many possibilities of just things that you're trying to navigate. And at all times, your senses are out there, just sensing, sensing, sensing, sensing, picking up on things. And sometimes you have no idea what you're actually picking up on because it's going in the body.
Where it's subconsciously being stored. Listen, I say all of this as someone who absolutely loves to figure things out. I work with the body, I work with nutrition, I work with energy. I am naturally curious about things. And I absolutely believe that our bodies and our energetic systems communicate with us in ways that are so worth.
Paying attention to. But paying attention and immediately sounding an alarm are absolutely not the same thing. Sometimes something absolutely needs action. Sometimes it needs support and it needs the curiosity and it needs a little time so that you can actually see what's going on. The healthiest thing that you can do is notice it without immediately making it a bigger deal.
Than what it actually is. So, yes, today we're gonna be talking about immune health, but this is definitely not going to be these five magic foods or five magic ways to boost your immune system, kind of episode. That's not what I want to bring today. I wanna go much deeper. I wanna go much deeper than that because your immune system is giving you this amazing physical example of what discernment is.
actually looking like within the body and how that can translate into the world around you. And then I want to take that part of the conversation into your emotional health and your energetic body, your chakras, energy healing, and even how you end up working with crystals if you choose to work with crystals, if that's something that resonates with you. And if you do decide that you want to work with crystals and that's something that interests you, make sure that you head on over to BEUCrystals.com.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (09:32.396)
Because over there I have handcrafted jewelry that is made with intention, that is Reiki infused, and it is also specifically designed to help you in this whole energetic response process that we're gonna be talking a lot about today. So if this interests you, if that part interests you, then make sure you head over to BEUCrystals.com. you'll find a lot of information over there. All right, so if we step back.
And we look at the bigger picture of everything and we start examining a little bit more closely. Maybe the question isn't necessarily, how do I become better protected from everything? Maybe the question is more like, how do I become better at knowing what actually deserves the response?
Or deserves my energy or deserves my attention because that is a very, very different kind of strength. I want to strengthen my immune system, or I really want a strong immune system. I hear that all the time in my practice. I hear it all the time in the energy work that I do. I hear it all the time when people come up to me at expos and we start chatting about maybe their health journey or what they're trying to figure out.
I want a stronger immune system. I feel that I'm off. I feel like I keep getting sick. I feel like my body doesn't feel the way that I truly want it to feel. And I completely understand what people mean by all of this. I totally get it. Usually they mean they don't want to get sick all the time. They want their bodies to handle infections well. They want to recover quickly.
From getting sick, not be stuck in the cycle of being ill for days, weeks on end. It all makes total sense. But technically, we don't necessarily want our immune system reacting as strongly as possible to everything that it encounters. That would actually create its own set of problems, and you would be onto a different path that you wouldn't be too happy about, right? I mean,
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (11:50.31)
Think about how much information your body comes in contact with every single day. There are foods and proteins coming through the digestive tract, bacteria and other microorganisms living in and all around us. There's pollen and dust entering in through our nose, viruses and other potential pathogens that we encounter each and every day.
There's things that are constantly touching our skin. And then of course we have our own cells and our tissues and what's going on within the body. There's a lot going on. Your immune system has to look at this enormous amount of information and somehow sort through all of it and try to decide.
What makes sense to respond to? Is this a part of me? Is this something that I need to respond to? And if it does need a response, how big should that response be? And then there's another piece that doesn't get nearly enough attention. And that is, when are we done? When are we done responding? When are we done giving it our attention? When are we done allowing it becoming our identity?
Immune health isn't simply your body's ability to turn response on. It also involves being able to regulate that response and eventually turn it back down. That is so important. Otherwise, we can get stuck in this cycle. And I'm not just talking about stuck in a stress response or stuck in a cycle of connecting into it in an identity.
concept or in an identity perspective, I'm talking stuck in this energetic loop.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (13:44.778)
That's why. This is why I actually love the idea of an appropriate immune response more than simply calling it a strong immune response. We don't necessarily want a stronger immune response. We want an appropriate one. I want it strong enough when it genuinely needs to be strong. And I also want it intelligent enough to leave something alone when it doesn't require it to be a battle.
That's an important distinction. There are different parts of your immune system that are actually involved in this. You have what's called your innate immune system, which is more like your quick response team. It comes in, it notices the broader patterns of what's going on, and it tells the body like, hey, there might be something here that we need to pay attention to. But then you have another part of your immune system, and that is your additional.
Adaptive immune system, which can get much more specific. It learns and it develops these really targeted responses. It can create memory from certain previous exposures, which means that your body may respond very differently when it encounters that same thing again and again and again. You don't have to remember all these terms. I'm just throwing these out here so you can kind of get an idea.
Of what it is that I'm talking about, and I can give some distinction, right? The part that I want you to understand and to really connect into is that immunity isn't one big army running in and attacking stuff. It is an incredibly complicated communication system. That's the important part. And one of the most fascinating pieces of all of this is actually something that is called immune tolerance.
That basically means that your immune system also has to know when not to attack or what not to attack. I think that's so important to mention here the immune tolerance concept, I mean, because we rarely talk about that part when it comes to health and when it comes to what kind of supplements to take or what kind of activities that you need to engage in to have a better.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (16:10.482)
stronger, more responsive immune system, your body needs to know how to say, yes, I want to respond to this, or no, we're okay. This can stay. This is not going to cause a huge health issue. So I want to look at it this way. If more immune activity were always better,
Allergies and autoimmune conditions wouldn't necessarily be a problem, right? Those are very different situations, obviously, but both show us why more response and better health are not actually the same thing. And that's where I want to start making the connection to how we move through the rest of our lives and why this is an important understanding and distinction to really step into. We put so much emphasis.
On being able to catch every single problem, protect ourselves from every possibility, to read everybody's energy, recognize every red flag, or put a boundary up around everything that makes us feel uncomfortable. But sometimes that is just not necessary. Sometimes it is. Sometimes we have to do that, but sometimes it's just not necessary. And that's discernment.
You need to understand what is going to be serving you and what's not going to serve you. And so this is where I want to now step into this conversation where we talk about gut health and gut being a part of this conversation because your digestive tract is actually such a beautiful example of how sophisticated.
Healthy boundaries actually are. Now, when we hear the word boundaries, it's it's more likely that you're going to be hearing it from a way of boundaries with people or boundaries in relationships or boundaries in work environments, or maybe it's even boundaries within your own inner self and how you interact with the world around you. But if we look at it from a purely physical perspective, there are so many boundaries.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (18:32.77)
Boundaries also that are just on a very innate physical level. We tend to think of the gut, for example, as a place where the food goes. And that's it. You eat something, your body breaks it down, you absorb the nutrients, and eventually you eliminate eliminate what you don't need. And that's true, of course, but there is so much more that's happening here.
Your intestinal tract is one of the biggest places where the outside world meets the inside of your body. Anything that you eat or drink technically starts outside of you. And now your digestive system has to figure out what to break down, what to absorb, what to keep, what to move through, right? What is going to be supportive of the microorganisms and the microbiome within the gut.
Your intestinal lining isn't supposed to be like a big giant concrete bunker where nothing can get through. If that were the case, you wouldn't be able to absorb any nutrients. Instead, it has to be really selective. And it has to have what they call tight junctures, not concrete junctures, tight junctures that will allow you to be able
your gut to be able to filter and to select what needs to get absorbed and what doesn't. Now, I'm gonna do a little bit of a deeper dive here. Okay, all right. So just hang tight with me because I think this is important for you to understand. There's a mucous layer helping to protect the surface. There are intestinal cells forming the barrier. You have immune cells right there in the gut.
You have the microbiome, which is what that whole community of bacteria and other microorganisms living inside of your digestive system are actually consisted of, right? Those microbes also produce their own compounds that can communicate with the body. And then you have things like your
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (20:50.74)
IGA, which is one of the immune tools that helps to protect those mucosal surfaces. And it can get really complicated. It can get really deep. And again, I want to emphasize this. You don't have to memorize any of this. You don't have to really think much deeper about this. What I really want you to understand here is that the gut is constantly having this conversation with the outside world. It isn't just simply saying, foreign thing.
Attack, attack, attack. Because if it did that, guess what? You wouldn't be eating. You wouldn't be able to consume any food or water or anything else that you're bringing into your body. You just wouldn't be able to. Your gut has to do this amazing job of being open enough to receive what you need while still maintaining enough integrity to protect you.
And so when I look at the gut and I think about how that really walks side by side in the concept of energetic boundaries, I think we could learn a lot from that. Because we talk about energetic protection as if the ultimate goal is to build this impenetrable wall all around yourself. Nothing can get in.
Nothing can get close. I'm gonna shield, I'm gonna protect, I'm gonna block, I'm gonna keep everything outside of me outside of me. And, you know, when I have conversations with clients, especially energetic clients or ones that are working with crystals, we talk a lot about tools or crystals that can help with the protection. But that doesn't necessarily mean that that protection is gonna say, stop, stop, stop, nobody can get through. That's not how it works.
It is allowing that selective energy to flow and to come in. We're humans. We're supposed to interact with our world and with people and with the energies around us. We're meant to experience love and friendship and creativity and intuition and touch, spiritual connection, new ideas. We're meant to be in all of that. And so
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (23:15.634)
Yes, from a physical perspective, you have the gut and its boundaries that it's setting for your immune health. But when you also have from an energetic perspective, because everything interacts and flows and works off of each other and commingles, your energy boundaries are just as important as your gut boundaries in keeping your immune system high.
It is so important that
Yeah. So if you think about it from an energetic perspective, you can receive love without taking responsibility for someone else's emotional state. You can listen to someone who is hurting, who's having a really hard day without deciding that their pain now becomes your own pain.
You can walk into a room, notice what is happening around you energetically, mentally, emotionally, and still know where you end and somebody else actually begins. You can be open without being absorbent. Now, this is an fellow empath talking to fellow empaths. If you are identifying as an empath and you're listening to this, that can be really challenging.
But it is possible. And maybe you need to take other protective measures. Maybe your protective measures aren't just some of the crystals and the tools that I talk about in other modalities and other ways. Maybe it's also protective measures of healing your own shadows, healing your own wounds and your own traumas.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (25:10.382)
Coming face to face with the things, the fears that scare you. Part of that is also allowing you to then set better energetic boundaries so that your immune system can be stronger, can be healthier. What I've learned is that you can be incredibly perceptive and still have discernment. You can be incredibly empathic and sensitive and still have discernment.
You can notice that somebody is uncomfortable without immediately making it your job to fix their discomfort. You can feel it all and know that there is still a place that you can stop and where that other person, place, or situation starts. That to me is so much more of a healthier version.
Of energetic protection in this whole concept of immune health. It's such a healthier version of understanding not just boundaries, but also how boundaries can really flow from the energetic into the body, into the gut, into the physical. We're not shutting the world out.
Your gut is not shutting out the nutrients. Your emotions are not shutting out the connection that you have to people. Your energetic body is not shutting out the energies that you're feeling each and every day. What is important here to understand is that knowing yourself well enough that you can interact with the world and still remain connected to yourself is key. Know thyself. Know what foods you can eat. Know what foods you can't eat.
Know what supplements your body needs to be at its healthiest so that it has the right things to select from. Know what your A quick pause for a gut check because gut health is not just about digestion. When your gut is supported, it can impact so many big picture things like immunity and brain support, mood and energy, and even how steady your nervous system feels day to day.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (27:28.268)
And when your gut is struggling, it can show up as more than bloating or bathroom drama. It can look like feeling run down and more reactive or foggy or anxious or like you're just not bouncing back the way that you used to. And that's why I'm a big believer in supporting the microbiome as part of a real life wellness foundation, especially if you're under stress, if you're in a busy season of your life or your system is already sensitive.
One of my consistent staples is just Thrive Probiotics. I love it because it's simple, it's consistent, and it helps me feel like I'm supporting my body's baseline without turning my routine upside down. Because here's the reality: when you're supporting your gut, you're often supporting everything downstream, like your immune functioning, your nervous system resilience, and how well your body and your brain can actually do their jobs.

Now, if we start talking about your immune system, your nervous system, and your brain all coming together and not working in separate departments, I think that that in particular is a really important part of this conversation, too. I think it's really fascinating because for a long time
We've talked about the body almost like it was divided into different little departments. And that each little different department demanded its own interaction and its own game plan, right? There's digestion, there's the brain, the immune system. Over here is your hormones. We have the nervous system over here somewhere else. And, you know, the energy bodies over there. And the reality is.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (29:37.002)
Everything is always working together and talking together. The systems are constantly, constantly communicating. There's actually a whole area of research that's so that is called psycho neuroimmunology, which sounds extremely big and scary of a word, but it's actually not that complicated. The basic idea is pretty simple. Your psychological state.
Nervous system and immune system can influence one another. Pretty simple, right? Pretty straightforward. Your immune cells can release chemical messengers that communicate information throughout the body and the brain. And then your nervous system can come in and influence the immune activity. And then stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline can come rushing in and affect the immune function.
And then of course you have the vagus nerve being involved of some of that back and forth communication as well. And so this is why I really don't like statements like stress destroys your immune system. It's so much more nuanced than that. It's so much more bigger than that. And I also think, too, that when we get into this place of just thinking that it's just the stress that is interacting or
Creating an immune response that that can put more pressure on somebody of like, but I'm trying to not be stressed. I'm trying to not be in this place of fear or anxiety. It's just much more nuanced. We need stress responses. Your body is supposed to be able to activate when something requires action.
Cortisol itself is not automatically bad. And adrenaline is definitely not automatically bad. And then if we're looking at inflammation, sometimes our body needs inflammation. Inflammation is actually a really great sign for your body to step into action and do what it is innately born to do. The body uses these things for a reason.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (31:58.422)
The bigger question is usually the amount, the timing, the duration, and what happens afterwards. And I think that this gets really interesting when you think about how differently we interpret things depending on the state that we're already in. Imagine if somebody that you cared about sent you a text message that simply said, Hey, can we talk later?
And that's it. Just hey, can we talk later? By the way, I hate those text messages so much. I get those and I cringe. I automatically go into this place of fear. So say that that person sends that. That's it. If you've slept well, you ate break breakfast, you've having a pretty good day, you feel pretty grounded, you might think, sure, I wonder what they want to talk about. I wonder what's going on.
But if you haven't slept well, or you skip lunch, maybe your blood sugar is all over the place, maybe you're feeling overwhelmed. maybe you've had all these things go wrong or somebody has irritated you, or maybe your brain is just constantly tuned in to all of these trauma responses or these triggers, you might actually look at that text and think, my God, what happened? Are they mad at me?
Did I do something wrong? What's going on? Right? Same text, but very, very, very different experience. And that's why one of the most useful questions when it comes to discernment is what state am I actually in when I'm interpreting what is happening?
Yes, we can make sure as like as we get used to all this, we can make sure of keeping ourselves into more of a balanced state. But we're humans and not every day is going to feel balanced. So before the response come in, before we get concerned about what that text mean or what that situation means, before we step in and think we have to fix everything, it's more helpful to step back and say, okay, what state am I actually operating from?
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (34:20.181)
What am I interpreting from? Did I get enough sleep? Am I feeling more anxious? Is my blood sugar all over the place? how am I feeling mentally and emotionally? Have I been feeling overwhelmed? It's not about distrusting yourself. It's actually about creating better self-trust, allowing yourself to look at things a little bit different.
Deeper because self-trust, this concept of self-trust, isn't blindingly believing every thought, feeling, or sensation that you're having. It's knowing yourself well enough to understand the context around what you're experiencing so that you can better make that judgment if it is true and valid, rather than just operating from a place of fear where your fear
Is saying that is true and valid. Maybe your intuition really is telling you something. Maybe your body is genuinely asking for attention. But maybe you're just hungry or exhausted or grieving or hormonally dysregulated or you're overstimulated or you're already stinking stressed. Maybe it is something as simple as that.
Both things can be true. Discernment gives us enough space to figure out which one that we're dealing with. And so when we come back, let's kind of come back a little bit to the whole core concept of immune health. I want to really just ask you a simple question. Like, can we just please stop villainizing inflammation? Just stop villainizing it.
It's not necessarily a bad thing all the time. Inflammation might have one of the most worst reputations in wellness. There's anti-inflammatory things everywhere. And yes, when inflammation becomes chronic, we need to be aware of that, right? Because inflammation can cause disease. Inflammation can cause pain. Inflammation can cause brain health issues.

Inflammation can cause anxiety and depression and all of these other responses. It can create chronic illness. But also, inflammation can be a really great sign that something is off. So if you look anywhere around you, you're gonna see anti-inflammatory everywhere, anti-inflammatory foods, anti-inflammatory supplements, anti-inflammatory lifestyles. It is everywhere.
Yes, chronic or excessive inflammation can absolutely be a problem. Yes, eating an anti-inflammatory inflammatory diet or taking supplements is really important for our health overall. But inflammation isn't itself, it's not, it's not some terrible mistake that your body makes. It's one of your body's repair and defense tools.
If you cut yourself, you injure a muscle, you catch an infection, you damage tissue, whatever it is, inflammation helps to bring immune cells in and helps to bring resources to the area. It changes blood flow, it helps with cleanup, it plays a role in initiating repair. We absolutely have to have that response in our human experience.
The really interesting piece is what happens next. Because healthy inflammation isn't supposed to stay at full blast forever. The body has this beautiful activation process of resolution. In other words, it doesn't just run out of inflammation eventually. The body begins shifting the whole environment toward cleanup, repair, and getting back to this normal function.
The body essentially starts saying, okay, we've responded. We're done. We're going to finish this up. We're going to leave and move on. And every time I think about that, I think about how relevant that is mentally, emotionally, and energetically. Like the body, inflammation knows how to respond. A lot of us are actually pretty good at this activation part.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (39:09.496)
We're pretty good at that. You know, something comes in, it happens, our body reacts. We get angry, scared, embarrassed, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Our energy starts to change immediately. But then the actual situation ends. And six hours later, you're still responding to it. You're still feeling that anxiety. You're still feeling that trigger, that overwhelm.
Been there, done that, know it, could wear the t-shirt, I'll tell you. Totally, totally understand. It can be really hard to say, it's done. I can stop replaying that conversation over and over and over again while I'm driving. Okay. I can let it all go. That is over.
I don't have to imagine that the other person is still thinking about it too. I don't need to create three different future arguments that have never actually happened. I can get out of my brain.
And I'm gonna say here too if you are ADHD, if you are neurodivergent, that may be really hard. Cause your brain can automatically go there. It can automatically do that. I get that. But I just want to throw in here that that doesn't necessarily have to be as intense. You may have that response.
But you can still choose and select and have discernment about where those thoughts are gonna go and what kind of actions or behaviors actually come out of you doing that.

Our physical body may have left the situation, but mentally and energetically you're still sitting right there in the middle of it.
Sometimes things need to get processed. Sometimes you need to cry. You need to move that energy, journal it out, talk it out. You need movement or breath work. You need to set the boundary and have a conversation or get some support or receive some Reiki healing. Processing and staying activated are not the same thing. As you process and you move things out, like go back to what I just talked about with the difference between.
feeling it and being it and and maybe having that inclination that that's where you move to automatically or innately that your brain wants to go to, but also knowing you can still have discernment. Processing and activation are not the same thing. You can honor what happened without continuing to feed it indefinitely. Healing
includes helping your system realizing that the moment has actually passed. You've responded and you felt it. You've learned something. You can make that change.

We don't have to stay in the defense forever. So I guess, I guess then you might be wondering, well, so what does discernment actually look like energetically? When I think about this whole concept discernment through the chakra system, I actually see four different centers really working together. And so I want to talk about each of those centers because it'll give you an idea.
Of the different parts of the process and what is coming in and what is what is influencing or responding and interacting. And so the first center that I see is the root chakra because discernment is incredibly difficult when we don't feel anchored. Incredibly difficult. Root energy is connected to safety and stability and belonging, embodiment, grounding.
If I feel completely scattered, I'm worried about all these future possibilities of things happening, or I'm disconnected from my body, I'm probably not in the best place to accurately decide what something truly means. So the root chakra may ask a very simple question like: Am I safe enough right now to just pause and discern? Notice though.
That I didn't say, am I guaranteed to be safe forever? Right? I'm not talking about being or guaranteeing that you're safe forever. Just am I safe enough to pause right now in this moment?
Can I put my feet on the floor and ground? Can I eat something? Can I be here in this moment? Can I step outside? Can I put my hand over my chest and the other over my belly and just breathe for a moment? Can I hold some hematite or black tourmaline to ground me in? Root chakra energy gives discernment somewhere to truly stand and land and ground.

All right, so that's the first one. The second one is your solar plexus. When we move into the solar plexus, this is the piece that I think gets missed in so many conversations about sensitivity and energy. Solar plexus is all about agency, choice. What do I have to do with the information that I'm receiving? Noticing something doesn't automatically mean that you have to participate in it.
You have agency over it. You can recognize that someone is upset without deciding that it's your job to make them feel better. You can truly understand somebody's point of view without agreeing with what they're saying. You can feel the energy around you in the environment without handing that environment control over your entire entire internal state.
And all of a sudden falling victim to feelings of insecurity and lack of self-confidence. Awareness does not automatically create this obligation. It just doesn't. Just because you notice it doesn't mean that you're required to fix it. That is solar plexus discernment right there. Finding the agency within yourself. All right. The third one that I want to mention is the heart chakra.
I think the heart chakra in particular is where boundaries become so much more nuanced. There's one version of protection that says, I'm closing the door and nobody's getting in.
And like I've said before, sometimes you actually need that, right? But there's that other version that says, I can remain open without abandoning myself. I can be vulnerable without without allowing somebody else to hijack my vulnerability. I can still open, but I can still say no.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (46:53.408)
It's a very different response of getting giving everybody access to your heart, to yourself, versus nobody getting access.
Totally different. All right. Now, if we look at the fourth one, we have the third eye chakra. That I've seen has been another huge area that really helps us to process and step in to process this concept of discernment a little bit more healthfully.
It's all about perception, right? What am I actually perceiving? That's what the third eye is asking you. What am I actually perceiving? Is it intuition? Is it fear? Is it an old memory? Am I making an abs an assumption? Am I noticing somebody else's emotions? Am I feeling somebody else's emotions?
This is why I don't think that discernment means doubting your intuition. I want to be really clear about that. We still need to connect into our intuition. That is so important. Our intuition, our heart energy, our knowing deep in our body, all those psychic senses that come in are so intelligent. We don't want to disconnect that from discernment. We want to bring that in as part of the equation.
You need to know your own internal language well enough to recognize the difference between things. Intuition and fear can sometimes both feel very, very strong at the exact same time. An old pattern can feel incredibly true simply because it's familiar. Something can feel very aligned and can feel uncomfortable at the same time because it's new. So
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (48:52.312)
For me, these four centers create this beautiful sequence that can help you step into understanding and discerning with more inner power, with more sovereignty, with more clarity. The root chakra grounds you, the solar plexus chooses, the heart stays open and creates a little bit of that vulnerability. And the third eye comes in and helps you to discern.
It's such a different energetic model than simply protecting yourself harder. And I know even like in my Reiki work that I do, my energy healing work that I do, it's so much bigger than just clearing energy. It's so much bigger than just clearing it away and thinking that it's never gonna come back or that the chakras are never gonna become imbalanced again.
This is something I care a lot about in the way that I talk about energy healing. I don't look at energy healing as, no, you picked up something bad. Let's get it out. Sometimes clearing absolutely is part of energy work. But what I've noticed is that, you know, your system just needs more flow. There is too much activity in one area and very little somewhere else.
Sometimes somebody comes in and they feel completely disconnected from their lower chakras and their physical body. And sometimes the heart is guarded because it's been hurt, or the solar plexus needs support because there's so many energetic cords that are connected in that have been helping to siphon out their power. And sometimes the throat comes in and it's involved because it needs this expression to be put out into the world.
I like there's so much information here.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (50:54.392)
There is something that needs to move, something that needs to be felt, something that needs adjusted. Energy work can help with that. And when I say energy work, I also want to put this here too. You don't necessarily have to go out to get energy healing done, right? You don't have to do that. You can do your own energy work at home. You can do something as simple as grounding, getting your feet.
Into the physical ground, getting your bare feet into the physical ground and grounding yourself, doing a meditation, using crystals to help balance out the body, to help balance out your energetic being. You can sit and do mantras, breath work. Like there's so many things that you can do. And and I just I want to make note of that because us humans.
Are so complex. Energy is so complex. Healing is definitely complex, but you need to find what works for you and what works for you in the moment that you're in. Sometimes a certain healing might need one kind of modality, and other times it needs a different kind of modality. You need to find where you're at. And so thinking of these modalities, I kind of want to.
Because I promised that I was going to talk about this earlier, I want to bring in some of the crystals that I would choose for this conversation. Because if that is a modality you are interested in or that you choose to work with, or you just want to know more about, this would be a great thing for you to connect in, especially if we're talking about immune health, if we're talking about discernment and boundaries and everything that we really chatted about today. And so
I would choose three crystals this week that really help to support the different parts of discernment specifically. I love them together because they don't all do the same thing. They each very much have their own lane that they stick in. And so first I'm going to suggest hematite.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (53:08.758)
Which connects so beautifully with the root chakra and with embodiment. And for me, hematite is almost like that reminder to come back into your body before you really try to figure everything out, to ground yourself to be in that solid foundational place. If your mind is spinning, your energy is scattered all over the place, and you're already starting to interpret different possibilities, you may
Just need to ground and to get into your root chakra a little bit more firmly and solid. You may need presence to help you be in a place that helps you to come back into asking yourself the question: like, what is actually happening right here, right now? And what do I know? What am I physically experiencing? What exists?
Outside of the story that my mind is really building up as a pretty strong case. And hematite is a great stone to help with that. So that would be the first one I would pick. The second stone that I would step into is green tourmaline, which is great for bringing in the heart chakra. I love, love, love green tourmaline for this specifically.
Because I don't want a conversation about discernment to accidentally become a lesson that is really rooted in defensiveness. Discernment doesn't mean deciding everything around you is potentially dangerous. It is actually understanding that you have that ability to keep your heart open and to choose from your heart, not from a stress response.
Of what you're noticing out in the world around you. And green tourmaline helps to support that. It supports a sense of healthy openness and vitality and growth, healthy vulnerability coming from that heart energy. And that heart energy being open while still allowing you to stay rooted in yourself. To me, its message in this conversation is I can remain.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (55:27.646)
Open without giving everything else around me unlimited access. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So that's the second one. Green terms. We have hematite for the root. We have green tomaline for your heart. And now I want to come into the third eye, and that would be fluorite. Fluorite connects so beautifully with the third eye and mental organization.
Fluoride is one that I love so much when there is just simply too much information. Too many thoughts, too many opinions, too many possibilities that are coming into the mix, just too much and too much energetic noise. It helps to bring sorting of that energy and sorting of the chaos. And it helps you to also step back and say, okay, well, what actually matters?
What deserves my attention? What am I assuming? What information belongs in this decision? What is just clutter? Brings more clarity. So when I put all three of these together, I think of them in the way of like hematite helps me to come back to myself. Green tomaline helps me to stay open. And fluoride helps me to sort what I'm actually receiving.
I also want to point something out here that I think really, really matters. A crystal doesn't have to become another automatic reaction either. You don't have to grab black tourmaline every single time someone annoys you.
That kind of starts to miss the point. The deeper practice here, especially when we're thinking about crystal work and working in that energetic body, is looking at what support actually matches what I'm experiencing? What can I pop into my pocket or place onto my neck in the form of a necklace or put onto my wrist as a bracelet, whatever it is? Like, what is actually going to support me?
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (57:35.97)
from a healthy supportive perspective rather from a fear response of, my gosh, I just need, I just need to protect myself. my gosh. Yeah. Then, then automatically that crystal is becoming part of the discernment process instead of just another response. So yeah, I think that that's important because listen, I've been working in this crystal work world for a while now.
And I see so many different people and ways that they do respond or interact with crystals. And sometimes I'm like, honey, you there's still fear there. How can we, how can we heal the fear? How can we move past that so that crystal can really, really sink in and become juicy supportive?
So before we wrap this up today, I want to give you something that you can use the next time that something starts to get your attention and you start to notice some of those weird body sensations before you instantly try to Google it or fix it or clear it or confront it in any kind of way. I want you to ask yourself, and so this little practice, you can you can do a whole little ritual or you can make it super simple. What
Whatever you decide to do, it's completely, completely up to you. But when that feeling of wanting to fix it comes in, start by asking yourself, what does this actually need from me? Then just slow it down. Come back into your body, maybe noticing the breath, your in-and-out breath, maybe noticing what's going on around in your environment, noticing any sounds that pop up.
Bring yourself into this moment, into this space, into the present.
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (59:40.854)
And ask yourself again, what does this actually need from me right now?
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (59:49.794)
And feel into that. You might get an answer right away. You might not. But then you can start asking yourself some deeper questions. What actually happened? Not what you think happened. What actually happened? What are the facts? What is happening physically? Am I tired? Am I hungry? Am I in pain? Is there something that the physical body genuinely needs to feel better?
get to the root of it while you're in that present moment. You can do this also while you're holding a crystal, by the way. But then I want you to ask yourself,
What are you feeling emotionally? Are you feeling sad, embarrassed, angry? Something else? Are you scared? Confused?
And after you've checked your physical body or the physical layer, and you've checked your emotional layer, now I want you to check your energetic layer. Do I feel grounded? Do I feel scattered? Do I feel heavy or contracted?
Do I feel activated or stuck?
Tansy Rodgers — beU Complete (01:01:07.414)
And then after you take the energetic layer, I want you to then come in and sit with the one of the most important questions out of all of this. And that is, what state was I already in before this happened?
If you can step back and say
I felt already anxious. I felt already concerned. I felt already hungry. I felt already stressed out. I felt already that I was off. Well, that's a lot of really great information. You're not ignoring yourself. You're not ignoring what's going on. You're truly giving it the attention that it needs. And that, my friend, is discernment. Today's conversation.
Was all about the kind of discernment that creates a very, very different kind of strength in our immune health. It creates a very different kind of strength because it isn't built around this permanent defense and trying all of these things. It's built around knowing yourself well enough to interact with life without losing yourself in everything that you encounter.
And like I've mentioned a couple times throughout this, crystal and energy healing work can absolutely help. And if that resonates with you, make sure you head on over to either tansyrogers.com and check out a lot of the services that I have, or over to BEUCrystals.com and check out the handcrafted intentional Reiki infused jewelry that I create to help give you the support that you need. but also

Have more conversation with me. I love having conversation about this. You can reach out to me at any point and just notice. Notice if there's anything that shifts and changes for you in any of that conversation and in any of this expansion and opening to new ideas, what it means to be truly healthy in our immune system. And until next time.
Keep spreading that beautiful energy you were born to share.
